    TEARS AT THE FUNERAL (2)

We got intense and forgot to lock the kitchen door then someone came in. It was my sister in- law. She had just arrived from my late husband’s hospital. After the death she took over the management although she was a nurse who had been working right from time so she had more experiences on how to direct and take charge. I and Banjo had separated from eachother as he escaped through the back door luckily. I greeted her and she scanned her eyes all over my body, because I had messy hair and squeezed clothe. She asked why I was looking scattered then I explained I had just woken…

TEARS AT THE FUNERAL – (part1)

Düst to dust, Ash to ash, I held my four year old twins as their father was laid down the grave and the hymn “How great thou art“ was sung as the symphony followed up. Family members, friends and faces of humans I had not seen before showed up and tears rolled down their weak and swollen eyes. I don’t even know if they were here to offer their condolences or maybe to eat the jollofrice prepared for the reception. I and my kids dressed in black with their grandmother included with her younger children all dressed in black as we all stood to pay the last respect to my…

    DEAR VIRGINS.

This letter is not a hate letter. I repeat, this letter is not a hate letter. You might wonder what I mean by my statement. You will understand in the latter part of this letter. Before I dive into my reason for writing this letter, I want you to understand that this letter is meant to convey my personal emotions and it would be of great joy if this letter is read with an open mind, instead of with personal feelings and it’s not stating if I’m a Virgin or not which is my decision to expose if I want to. I feel very proud of you when you speak…

As the movie came to an end and the credits rolled in, something changed. My whole demeanour moved, I was all hot, lustred and bothered and I just had this gut feeling that something wasn’t quite right. It didn’t take time to figure out what it was though, I needed to write and I needed to do it fast! I picked up my pen and decided to let my heart bleed out unto the pages; I was writing my very first letter to love although I’m positive it won’t be my last. Dear Love, It’s me; Tovia, remember me? I’m sure you do, it’ll be hard to forget the girl…

    RAMADAN CHRONICLES.

Ramadan ended few weeks ago but it’s not too late to drop the chronicles from a friend. This Ramadan was my best so far. Few days before it began, I went home from school and although I was having a kind of mixed feeling, thinking of how I’d get used to not eating for a month. But I looked forward to the hunger pangs, the bustle to cook, the Tahjuds, the Iftar feasts and oh the ever lovely morning sleep that becomes an entitlement once you’re fasting. But Allah forgive me, I didn’t look forward to Taraweeh. Being at home fasting was easy, there wasn’t much to do since their chores…

    FOUNDATION OF WOMEN’S PROBLEMS

How was your Easter? Mine wasn’t so good. This post is a bit longg but try getting through it ❤️ Women have problems with this generation, ranging from gender discrimination to body shaming and sexual harassment, to list a few. And women of this generation are ready to fight back against the society and its rules. Against being put down or told to be or act a particular way because they possess a different anatomy. It is very funny that with how glaring the effects of these problems are on women, some people still insist that societal laws must be followed mainly because “that’s the way things go.” And I…
