Long, strong and shiny hair is almost everyone’s dream however,not everyone is able to fulfil it. Of course, it is important to keep your scalp healthy but it is also critical to pay attention to your diet. You can have dry, frizzy, smooth or silky hair- all these are signs of your inside health and they need to be constantly nourished with minerals and vitamins to make your hair long and strong.

I have put together a list of power packed foods for your hair so eat your way to a healthier and stronger hair.

  • Eggs
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Citrus fruits / Vitamin C
  • Nuts and seeds for Omega 3-fatty acids
  • Milk
  • Avocado


They are excellent source of omega 3-fatty acids, and they  also contain biotin ( which many people trying to grow their hair take in supplement form ) But take note : it is not the  ‘healthier’ egg white that will make your hair long and beautiful, it’s the ‘yolk’. Eating too many white eggs can actually block the absorption of biotin into the body causing a depletion of the micro nutrients.


Basically I love potatoes and I feel that it is the major reason why my hair growth is better maybe because I eat more of it than the remaining food. They are loaded with ‘ beta carotene ‘ the precursor for vitamin A that not only promotes a healthy scalp but effectively promotes hair growth too. Choose foods loaded with Beta carotene to enhance your hair growth.


Your body requires vitamin C for iron absorption therefore you need to add citrus fruits to your diet. Nutritionists recommend that one lime per day is enough to get your daily dose of vitamin C. You could also opt for oranges. Vitamin C is required for the production of collagen that make capillaries that connects to the hair shafts making it strong, ensuring regular supply of nutrients and quick hair growth.


Omega 3-fatty acids nourish the hair and supports thickening. Since your body cannot produce these healthy fats, you need to derive from your diet . Almonds and walnuts are really high in omega 3-fatty acids and can supply the essential fats to your hair.


I’m a great lover of milk also and not only it helps to give stronger teeth and bigger body it is rich in vitamins and minerals that help to boost hair growth. Whether it is taken as a meal or used directly on the hair as a conditioner it adds huge benefits which quickens hair growth .


Avocado has it’s great effect on hair also. The oil in it especially helps to rejuvenate and moisturize the scalp. It’s a rich source of protein,amino acids and vitamins which helps to soothe the scalp and promote strong and healthy hair growth. And yes I eat my potato with avocado oh well my hair appreciates the effort of these two.

You may have found shampoos or tried to get your hair to grow longer out of force or will and you might have found out that most of these things do not work but don’t worry! everything up here will work trust me you will be happy to see how great your hair will turn out. Remember Rome was not built in a day so patience is needed .
